Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 17, 2026
A note for parents (please read first)
Breakaway Prep works with students, most of whom are minors, and our services are purchased and managed by a parent or legal guardian. This policy explains what information we collect, why, how we protect it, and the choices you have. The short version: we do not sell your or your student’s personal information, and we never use a student’s information for targeted advertising or profiling.
Who we are
This policy applies to breakawayprep.com and the services offered by Breakaway Prep LLC (“Breakaway Prep,” “we,” “us,” “our”). Questions or requests: privacy@breakawayprep.com · 268 Green Village Road, Suite 4, Green Village, NJ 07935 · (973) 457-1150.
Information we collect
Information you give us:
- Parent/guardian name, email, and phone number
- Student name, grade level, school, and graduation year
- Test scores and academic information
- Information about testing accommodations or learning needs you choose to share
- Scheduling and communication preferences, and anything you include in messages or uploaded materials
Payment information: When you purchase a service or report, payment is processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation and limited billing details; we do not store full card numbers.
Information collected automatically: When you visit our website we collect standard usage data — IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, the page that referred you, and timestamps — through cookies and analytics tools (see Cookies and tracking).
We collect only what we need to provide tutoring, test-prep, college-counseling, and reporting services.
How we use information
To provide and schedule services; generate score reports and analyses; communicate about sessions, results, and your account; process payments; respond to your questions; improve our website and services; and meet legal and record-keeping obligations. We do not use students’ information for advertising.
Cookies and tracking
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies for basic functionality and to understand how the site is used:
- Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager (Google) — website analytics. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using Google’s opt-out add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout). For details about the specific cookies we use, see our separate Cookie Notice.
How we share information
Within Breakaway Prep, a student’s information is available to the staff, tutors, counselors, and proctors involved in delivering their services — for example, to run a practice test, tutor a student, or prepare score reports. Outside Breakaway Prep, we share information only with service providers that help us run our business, under contracts that limit how they may use it:
- Google (website analytics and email), Stripe (payment processing), TutorBird (scheduling and billing), Beehiiv (marketing email), and Kinsta (website hosting).
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our students, families, staff, or company.
We do not sell your or your student’s personal information. We do not share, sell, or use a minor’s information for targeted advertising or profiling.
Students and families
We work with students across a range of ages, and a parent or legal guardian is always the one who enrolls a student, provides their information, and agrees to this policy on the student’s behalf. This includes younger students — for example, those preparing for the SSAT or ISEE for private-school admission, who may be under 13. In every case, a parent or guardian is the account holder who provides the student’s information and consents to our use of it as described here.
- We collect only the information we need to provide our services.
- We never sell students’ information, and we never use it for advertising or profiling — at any age.
- A parent or guardian may review, correct, request deletion of, or withdraw consent for their student’s information at any time by contacting privacy@breakawayprep.com, subject to legal and recordkeeping requirements.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as needed to provide services, maintain our records, and meet legal obligations, then delete or de-identify it. We do not keep student information indefinitely.
How we protect information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify affected individuals and authorities of a data breach as required by law.
Your choices and rights
You may ask what information we hold about you, request a correction, request deletion, and opt out of marketing emails (every marketing email has an unsubscribe link). To make a request, email privacy@breakawayprep.com. We will verify your identity and respond within 45 days.
Your state privacy rights
Depending on your state of residence, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of the sale of personal information or targeted advertising. We honor these requests regardless of whether a specific law currently applies to us, and we do not sell personal information. New Jersey and California residents: contact privacy@breakawayprep.com to exercise these rights.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy as our practices change, revise the effective date above, and review it at least annually. We will communicate material changes by email and a notice on our website.
