Terms and Conditions for Breakaway Prep College Counseling Services

By enrolling in a Breakaway Prep college counseling program, you (the parent or legal guardian) agree to these terms for your family and student. By agreeing, you also accept our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, incorporated here by reference — so one agreement covers your use of our website, our handling of your information, and these counseling services.

1. Our role

Breakaway Prep LLC provides educational advising to help students and families navigate college planning and admissions: academic and testing strategy, college-list development, essay and application guidance, activity and resume review, and application planning, with reasonable support by email, phone, or text as appropriate for the student’s program. Our role is advisory — final decisions about colleges, applications, deadlines, testing, and enrollment rest with the student and family. We do not guarantee admission, scholarships, financial aid, or any particular outcome. Breakaway Prep does not accept fees from colleges for referrals or placements; our obligation is to the student’s best interests.

2. Family responsibilities

Students and families agree to provide accurate and relevant academic, testing, extracurricular, and support-related information; communicate promptly; meet agreed deadlines; and complete required steps, including test registration, transcript and recommendation requests, application submissions, and any college application fees. Breakaway Prep is not responsible for missed deadlines, incomplete applications, or issues caused by inaccurate information or delays outside our control.

3. Program fees and payment

Fees, payment schedules, and included services depend on the program you select at enrollment. For the Comprehensive College Counseling Program, the fee is $8,000, with a $500 discount ($7,500) when paid in full at enrollment. Families using the payment plan pay 25% at enrollment, then 25% on September 1, December 1, and March 1 of the student’s junior year. Payments are processed by Stripe, are non-refundable, and reserve the student’s place in their graduating class, except where a refund is required by law.

4. Early enrollment (before junior year)

Comprehensive Program spots are limited, so many families enroll before junior year to reserve placement. Full program services begin in junior year; before then, early enrollees may meet a few times per year at our current hourly counseling rate (for course selection, test planning, activity review, and summer planning), unless otherwise agreed in writing.
